Israel has received an invitation from the United States to join US President Donald Trump's new Gaza Board of Peace, two sources briefed on the matter told Reuters.
It was not immediately clear if Israel had accepted the invitation.
The Prime Minister's Office did not respond to Reuters's request for comment.
The White House announced on Friday that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Tony Blair will be among the founding members of the BoP, which will be responsible for rebuilding the enclave and ensuring the disarmament of Hamas.
Leaders from more than 60 countries have been invited to serve on the Peace Council.
"It appears that Trump is building an organization here that will deal not only with Gaza, perhaps 'a kind of Mini-UN'," Western diplomats told The Jerusalem Post.
Putin to join Board of Peace?
The Kremlin said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to join BoP and that Moscow is studying the proposal and hopes for contacts with Washington concerning it.
The Kremlin's statement came shortly after reports from Kazakh media outlet Tengri that Trump also invited Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to join the board.
The White House did not name Tokayev or Putin as confirmed members of the board.
