A 47-year-old man was stabbed in Ramat Gan on Thursday afternoon in what is suspected to have been a terror attack.

Magen David Adom provided first aid to the man and evacuated him to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv in serious condition, where he was classified as stable upon arrival.

According to footage of the event reviewed by The Jerusalem Post, the assailant continued to physically attack the victim after he was stabbed. The victim also claimed that the suspect yelled "Allahu Akbar" before he struck.

The suspect attempted to flee the scene of the incident following the stabbing.

While conducting searches in the area where the incident occurred, Israel Police uncovered a knife suspected to have been the weapon used in the attack.

Law enforcement officers remain deployed in the area to continue evidence collection and crime scene documentation, as well as to ensure public safety.

An investigation into the attack will be carried out by the Central Investigations Unit of the Tel Aviv District police.

Attacker and victim identified, motive under investigation

The victim was identified as a prominent rabbi associated with the Shas movement who chairs the local religious council, and the suspect is a 20-year-old resident of Jatt, an Arab village in northern Israel.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after the event and located and arrested the suspect. At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest the two men knew each other, so the primary line of investigation is a nationalist or terror-related motive.

However, police have not officially determined whether or not the stabbing was terror-related or a criminal act.

Attempted terror attack in West Bank, terrorists shot

Two people attempted to carry out a combined ramming and shooting attack against IDF soldiers at Tapuah Junction on Thursday afternoon.

The attempt was unsuccessful, and the terrorists were shot, and the threat was neutralized, according to the IDF. No injuries to Israeli forces were reported.

This is a developing story.
