Most Israeli Jews support Operation Roaring Lion, believing that the war with Iran will allow for regime change and the complete destruction of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs, a new survey by the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) showed.

Most Israeli Arabs (65%), however, oppose the fighting.

A similar division can be seen regarding achieving the war's goals.

According to the survey, 71% of Israeli Jews believe that the war will end with the Iranian nuclear and missile programs destroyed, while 60% think that Operation Roaring Lion can lead to regime change in Iran.

In contrast, the Arab public is much more pessimistic, with only between a quarter to a third of those surveyed believing that these goals can be achieved.

Feeling safe against Iranian missiles

The survey also revealed that, even though most Israeli Jews feel safe against Iran's missiles, parts of the country feel more vulnerable to the effects of war than others.

According to their data, people from Haifa and Tel Aviv feel that they are the least protected.

The majority of Israeli Arab respondents feel similarly, with only 15% of the total surveyed feeling protected from missiles and rockets.

Finally, most people in Israel believe that the operation will last less than a month, with both Arabs and Jews answering that the operation will last between three weeks and a month.

The survey, conducted online from March 9 to March 11, 2026, interviewed 502 men and women in Hebrew and 101 in Arabic, constituting a representative national sample of Israel's adult population aged 18 and older.
