Tel Aviv University announced that ahead of the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year, it will allow a special admissions framework for IDF veterans with disabilities, who were injured in the Swords of Iron war and recognized as disabled IDF veterans (with a disability rate of 20% or more) by the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Defense.

Within this framework, candidates who are currently undergoing rehabilitation and recovery following an injury will be eligible for the same accommodations under the special admissions framework for reservists, and will be able to be admitted to first-year undergraduate studies without the need for a psychometric exam (the framework applies to all fields of study on campus apart from medicine).

It should be noted that immediately following the outbreak of the Swords of Iron War, the university decided on a special admissions track for reservists, in light of the difficulty of preparing for the psychometric exam, created by the exceptional reserve service.

The university’s Vice Rector, Prof. Gal Oestreicher-Singer, emphasized that the new decision is intended to ensure that disabled IDF veterans who are undergoing rehabilitation will not also be harmed in the admissions process due to health circumstances related to their military service.
