Horror, an EP featuring versions of a song about the Nova music festival has been released by a collaboration of British artist Smilee and other collaborators under the banner of Magenetic, choosing a name influenced by 'magen,' the Hebrew for 'shield.'

The artists forming Magenetic want to remain anonymous so as to not be affected by any boycott attempts on their wider music careers.

The song originally addressed itself to the events at Nova during the October 7 massacre, but has wider implications, one of the artists told The Jerusalem Post.

“The lyrics speak to the horror of the sudden and horrific loss of a loved one, and the inability of the survivor to carry on without help,” they told the Post.

The music evokes the sentiment of the traumatic experience, opening with a bright guitar riff setting a feel-good tone, with Smilee’s vocals gliding in, commanding attention, supported by a smooth kick drum that lifts the energy, her voice becomes the centerpiece, balancing warmth and raw emotion as the track is filled with infectious melodies designed to resonate long after its first listen.

The song calls out for help with trauma: "Sometimes you just need a song to restore hope in the future so people can dance again," said Magenetic.

'Need to address the survivors continuing trauma, their lives will never be the same'

“Since the song was written and recorded, there have been positive developments as part of the ceasefire, but we need to address the survivors and the continuing trauma they are going through,” they continued.

“This song was written for the people whose lives will never be the same; for anyone who’s ever lost someone they love," Smilee added.

"Horror" pop and acoustic version EP are now available on all streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify, as well as several remix versions.
