The Culture Ministry has awarded Yair Vardi the Arik Einstein Life Achievement Award. Vardi is the long-time CEO of the Suzanne Dellal Dance and Theater Center, which this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
“During the last 30 years, Vardi has revolutionized the Israeli Dance world, turning the Suzane Dellal Center into a world-wide famous dance center and promoting the Israeli Dance scene, making it one of the most lively and ground-breaking in the world,” the committee said in its announcement.
“Vardi has redefined the growing Israeli dance scene by promoting local talents – dancers and choreographers – through numerous innovative ventures. Thanks to these connections, artistic directors from around the globe come to Tel Aviv every year to see local talents and bring them to their audiences. His global connections have brought a lot of prestige to Israeli Dance.”
A vast NIS 26 million renovation project at the Suzanne Dellal Center is about to be finished, after which the center will soon be able to offer a large rehearsal studio, new performing halls and an open-air arena.
