1. MATCH POINT
Battle of the Sexes is a biographical sports film based loosely on the 1973 tennis match between world number one player Billie Jean King and former men’s champion and serial hustler Bobby Riggs. As the rivalry between King and Riggs kicked into high gear on the tennis court, each of them was fighting more personal and complex battles off the court. With Emma Stone, Steve Carell, Andrea Riseborough, Elisabeth Shue, Sarah Silverman.
2. CITY UNDER FIRE
Baltimore Rising is a 2017 TV documentary about the protests in Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray. It was created, directed and produced by actress and filmmaker Sonja Sohn and HBO Films. It covers the death of Gray, the protests and riots immediately following, and efforts to keep the peace during the unsuccessful prosecution of the six police officers involved.
Airs Saturday at 10 p.m. on HOT HBO and HOT VOD.
3. A FORCE OF NATURE
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art has commissioned the installation Two Lives by Japanese contemporary artist Rei Naito. She is known for her minimalist, poetic works that are inspired by natural forces such as wind, light and rain. The installation in the museum’s central Lightfall space will be a delicate, almost invisible work that will change its form throughout the day.

4. SUPER JAZZ STARS
The Super Jazz Ashdod festival features a host of concerts. This year’s lineup includes American jazz saxophonist Bill Evans (pictured), American jazz singer Sharon Clark, Azerbaijani jazz musician Rain Sultanov, the Carling Dixieland Band, as well as top local talent.

5. OUT OF THE WOODS
In honor of the release of the Hebrew edition of her new novel Forest Dark, whose action takes place in New York and Israel, popular American author Nicole Krauss will hold a special event at Jerusalem’s Mishkenot Sha’ananim. She will speak to the Israeli audience and to literary pundit Rana Werbin about journeys, love and the search for self. Musical accompaniment at the event will be provided by Daniela Spector. NIS 50. 6. IT’S THE BEST MEDICINE
The Koby Mandell Foundation’s biannual fund-raising tour Comedy for Koby returns with a talented roster of American stand-up comedians. This time around, the tour features Tammy Pescatelli (pictured), DC Benny, Don McMillan and host Avi Liberman. Pescatelli’s credits include The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing and her own Netflix special, Finding the Funny.

7. JAZZ IN JERUSALEM
The third International Jerusalem Jazz Festival will fill the Israel Museum’s art galleries with the sights and sounds of top local and international jazz musicians. The festival features original compositions, artistic collaborations, pop-up performances throughout the museum and master classes, capped by jam sessions into the wee hours at the Yellow Submarine. Among the participants are US jazz trio The Bad Plus (pictured), Karen Ann, Roman Diaz and Daniel Freedman.

8. SILENCE IS GOLDEN
New Zealand comedian and mime Sam Wills, aka Tape Face, brings his uniquely hilarious and moving comedy to City Hall, Cinema City Glilot. Taking to the stage with a piece of gaffer tape across his mouth, Tape Face brings silent comedy into the 21st century with his inventive blend of prop comedy and vaudeville. His act, which frequently involves members of the audience, makes use of everything from plungers to oven mitts.

9. ON THE TOP RUNG
On the shores of Lake Kinneret, the air will once again be filled with music at the 12th annual Jacob’s Ladder winter weekend. The indoor festival will feature 24 hours of musical entertainment, storytelling sessions, singing, dancing, an open stage, tai chi, a variety of workshops and a craft fair.
Some of the acts this year are pianist Yoel Shemesh, local Irish band Black Velvet, Cypriot folk band Monsieur Doumani, and Carlie and Yossi.

10. BRING ON BRYAN
Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams is on his way to the Holy Land. Best known for songs such as “Summer of ‘69,” “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” “Run to You,” “Heaven” and “Please Forgive Me,” Adams will perform on December 4 and 5 in Tel Aviv and on December 6 in Jerusalem. The concerts in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem will form part of his European Get Up Tour, which began in June.
