Crews from the Ramat Gan Safari were searching on Monday morning for a monkey that escaped earlier in the day from the zoo in the Tel Aviv suburb.
The escaped primate, named Conner, was described as a small, 17-year-old male of the capuchin species. Zoologists announced that the monkey did not pose a danger to the public, however the zoo was concerned that he could be hurt during encounters with humans.
If sighted, the zoo staff has urged the public not to approach the monkey nor make loud noises and commotion that could disturb him.
The Ramat Gan Safari has requested that anyone with information about Conner immediately call the facility at 03-6305325.
