Joint List lawmaker Osama Saadi submitted his resignation on Monday and will be replaced by Ibrahim Hijazi on Wednesday, when it goes into effect.The move took place as part of the Joint List’s rotation agreement meant to decide how the different parties making up the bloc share representation.Saadi is part of the Ta’al Party, led by MK Ahmad Tibi, and Hijazi is from the Islamic Movement-affiliated United Arab List.The Joint List debated whether to respect the rotation or not for much of the summer, because former MK Basel Ghattas’s conviction for smuggling phones and other materials to terrorists in prison threw off the rotation plan.However, in the end the resignations went as planned, even though Balad has three lawmakers instead of the four it was supposed to at this point.Abdullah Abu Marouf of Hadash resigned in early August, bringing in Saeed Alharomi of UAL, and Saadi followed.
