National police public information call center opens in Holon

Center created to free-up resources at emergency police call center.

In an effort to free-up resources for the No. 100 police emergency line, a state-of-the-art National Police Public Information Call Center opened in Holon this week to respond only to public queries that are not emergencies.
The new call center, which opened on Monday, can be reached by dialing 110, while the emergency center can still be reached at 100, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said on Tuesday.
“The whole idea of the public information call center is that if members of the public have questions that are not emergency-related they can call this number so that the emergency line will be free for emergencies,” he said.
Rosenfeld said the public information call center will eliminate hundreds of non-emergency calls received by the emergency line every day.
“The public will now have access to important information, including street closings during storms or major events, electrical outages, or parking restrictions, as well as many other developments, while the emergency center can now respond exclusively to criminal and domestic incidents,” Rosenfeld said.
