Knesset Member Meir Cohen has been selected to become the next chairman of the KKL-Jewish National Fund, the Yesh Atid Party announced on Wednesday, as World Zionist Congress coalition negotiations are being finalized.

Cohen is ending his service as a member of the Knesset in coming weeks.

Cohen said that he would continue to support the Yesh Atid Party, as Opposition leader Yair Lapid congratulated him in the new elections.

"I congratulate Meir Cohen on his new position," said Lapid. "He has been and will always be part of the Yesh Atid family and will assist in organizing the party for the upcoming election.

Decision making for the Jewish nation

The decision comes as coalition negotiations for portfolios and positions in Israel's national institutions have stretched into Wednesday.

KKL-JNF controls millions of dunams of land in Israel, and wields millions in shekels for conservation, education, and development work.
