Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US Senator Joni Ernst (Republican) at his office in Jerusalem, the Prime Minister's Office said on Friday.
This is the second time Ernst and Netanyahu have met in the last year, with them previously meeting in August 2025, when Israel's war with Hamas was still ongoing in Gaza.
During that instance, the PMO issued a statement saying that Netanyahu assured "Israel will act with determination and strength in order to return all our hostages and defeat Hamas."
In this latest instance, no official statements were disclosed about the meeting, with only pictures and a video showing Netanyahu and Ernst talking being shared by the PMO.
Ernst, a strong Israel advocate in the US Senate, has been very vocal about the need for bipartisan support of Israel and efforts to combat the threats that represent Iran and its proxy terror groups.
US-Israel relations under tension
The visit comes as relations between Israel and the US hit their most tense moment since US President Donald Trump assumed office two years ago.
On Thursday, during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump claimed that the technology behind Israel’s Iron Dome is “entirely American.”
"I told Bibi to stop taking credit for the dome," he declared, adding, "That’s our technology, that’s our stuff."
“What we did for Israel is amazing, but that’s nothing compared to what we have planned for the United States, Canada, and the rest of the world,” he said.
