The Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, a psychologist by profession, should light a torch on Independence Day, MK Sasson Guetta (Likud) proposed on Wednesday.

"She didn’t know about this, and I haven’t spoken to her about it. After two weeks of seeing the Prime Minister, I believe that Mrs. Sara Netanyahu deserves it," said Guetta.

When asked what she had done to deserve it, Guetta responded, "What has she done? What hasn’t she done?!"

"Mrs. Netanyahu, as the Prime Minister’s wife, never left the public. She continued to work even during the war on a crazy mission," he said.

He also mentioned the adage that behind every successful man is his wife.

The Likud member insisted that he was the one behind the initiative, not Netanyahu's inner circle. "Take me to any lie detector you want at any institute, and ask me if I spoke to anyone from the office or the family."

"I recommended it, but I don’t decide. As a Knesset member who sees everything from the side, I see what the Prime Minister is going through," he added. "Sara Netanyahu is a full partner in all the Prime Minister’s successes, how he is changing the Middle East and placing Israel in the strongest position."

Guetta denies proposal was flattery over dairy reform

He was asked if this initiative wasn’t flattery on his part, given that he was one of the loudest opponents of the dairy reform, to which he responded, "In the dairy reform, I succeeded. It was canceled. I was with the Prime Minister before, and I told him that just as he was loyal to his principles with Abu Mazen, I will not betray my principles. I come from agriculture, from settlement, I come from the borders, and I must remain true to my principles."

Guetta didn’t seem worried about his standing related to the upcoming primaries in his party. "With God’s help, the day after the primaries, you’ll bring me in for an interview, and I’ll invite you to a meal of thanksgiving. I believe I will be among the top twenty."

MK Guetta was not impressed by reports claiming that the Prime Minister’s wife would soon be called for questioning. "I’ve seen all the investigations with these poor mayors. They put people in detention and destroy their lives, and in the end, they come out innocent," he said.

He mentioned the former mayor of Netanya as an example: "Look at Miriam Feinberg, may her memory be a blessing, who was detained, and I don’t know if she became sick from those detentions, and in the end, she was found innocent."
