Panel on limiting public incitement holds first meeting
Justice minister had announced the committee's establishment in July to "fight the phenomenon of the spilling of blood on social media."

A committee formed by Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and led by former Supreme Court justice Edna Arbel for limiting public incitement held its first meeting on Sunday.Shaked had announced the committee’s establishment in July to “fight the phenomenon of the spilling of blood on social media” following the suicide of top police commander Ephraim Bracha after he was harassed on social media by supporters of Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto for turning the rabbi into the authorities.The committee was also formed following attempts by certain Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) sectors to incite against those haredim choosing to join the IDF, by posting information about them online and social media campaigns against judges.Other committee members include: Prof. Asa Kasher, public defender Yoav Sapir, Tel Aviv District Court President Devora Berliner, former Knesset MK Arieh Eldad, Makor Rishon editor Hagai Segel, Dr. Anat Peleg, Dr. Nimrod Kozlovsky and others.Former police interrogations head Yoav Sogolovich resigned from the committee when he learned Segel was involved, claiming that Segel could not be on such a committee after involvement in the Jewish Underground in the 1980s.Reportedly, Arbel agreed to stay on, once Shaked added additional judges, such as Berliner, onto the committee.
