Israeli swimmers pose by the pool in Abu Dhabi after arriving this week for the 2019 Special Olympics World Games. The blue-and-white delegation consists of 25 athletes with cognitive disabilities – 20 men and five women – who will compete in four different sports, and is the largest-ever Israeli group to compete in Arab countries. Four years ago, Israeli athletes captured 62 medals in nine sports. This year, Israelis will participate in judo, swimming, basketball and bowling competitions and are expected to place on the podium numerous times. The official opening ceremony took place on Thursday night and the Games go on for an entire week.
