Ironi Kiryat Shmona wrapped up the runners-up position in the Premier League on Sunday night, defeating Hapoel Beersheba 3-1 thanks to a Roei Kehat hat-trick.The 23-year-old Kehat got the week off to a dream start ahead of his wedding on Tuesday and also gave the local fans a farewell present in what may well have been his final home game for Kiryat Shmona, which moved five points clear of Beersheba with one more game remaining.Kehat holds an offer from Austria Vienna, with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa also very interested in his services.Kehat showed his potential on Sunday by scoring one goal with his right leg (26), another with a back-heel with his left leg (41) and the third with his head (57). Dovev Gabay netted Beersheba’s meaningless consolation goal from the penalty spot in the 68th minute.“Kiryat Shmona was a home for me and they gave me the chance to show that I’m a good player,” said Kehat. “I may not continue next season, but I will always love Kiryat Shmona. I will soon know where I’ll play next season and obviously every player dreams to play abroad. I want to play at the highest levels, but sometimes it is best to take one step at a time.”Beersheba announced the signing of coach Barak Bachar following the match, with Bachar being sacked by Kiryat Shmona two weeks ago after owner Izzy Sheratzky was upset with him for negotiating with Beersheba.The loss in Kiryat Shmona capped a nightmare week for Beersheba, which lost 4-0 to Maccabi Haifa in league action last weekend before being thrashed 6-2 by Maccabi Tel Aviv in the State Cup final.“Our finish to the season wasn’t good, but I hope people also remember all the good parts,” said coach Elisha Levy.On Monday, Beitar Jerusalem hosts Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa visits Maccabi Petah Tikva.
