David Sharan, former chief of staff of the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz announced on Monday that they will run for a place on the Likud list for Knesset.Both of them were investigated for the Submarine Affair, or Case 3000.In Case 3000, public officials, business and senior executives – either directly or through business and private companies – are suspected of having used their connections to profit from Israel’s acquisition of submarines and vessels from the German corporation ThyssenKrupp, along with the promotion of additional business interests.Police suspect that David Sharan, who served as chief of staff of then finance minister Yuval Steinitz and later as chief of staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, also acted in favor of Miki Ganor’s interests in the submarine transactions and received NIS 130,000 from him between 2013 and 2016. The payments were made through a businessman close to Sharan in an effort to disguise the connection between the two.Miki Ganor became the Israeli representative of the German corporation ThyssenKrupp, replacing the former representative Shaike Barkat.Tamara Zieve contributed to the report.
