Philanthropist Sylvan Adams presented his plan for branding Israel and strengthening Jewish identity in the Diaspora to the Jewish Agency for Israel Board of Governors on Thursday. At the ceremony, JAFI chairman Isaac Herzog described Adams as “an example of the new face of immigrants to Israel who are working to strengthen the state while maintaining the connection with the Diaspora. I am happy to present to you a prominent Zionist entrepreneur, who works hard all over the world to present a beautiful Israel; who brought the Giro d’Italia to Israel, an event which showed the real Israel during three days of broadcasting to a billion viewers around the world,” he said of Adams, who immigrated to Israel from Canada three years ago.Adams revealed his personal connection to the Jewish Agency through his father Marcel, a Holocaust survivor who escaped from a Romanian labor camp and reached Palestine in 1943 via Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. He was an emissary of the Jewish Agency in France, where he helped North African Jews prepare for their immigration to Israel.
