A rare group of false killer whales was spotted near Eilat on Wednesday. The group included 10 members on their way to Egypt.
The spotters were workers of the Eilat training center of the marine unit of the Nature and Parks Authority.
The false killer whale is an oceanic dolphin noted for being highly sociable, it is so named due to its tendency to attack other dolphins like the real killer whale [orca] which is known for being aggressive.
Groups of dolphins are called pods and false killer whales may swim together in pods which are at times 50 members large and include other dolphin species.
