An Ariel woman was found dead in an apartment in the West Bank city on Tuesday with signs of violence on her body.
The head of the Shomron subdistrict of the Israel Police, Cmdr. Shimon Buhbut, said police received a call from a neighbor around 10:30 Tuesday morning complaining of a bad smell coming from the apartment next door. Buhbut said that officers who arrived found the victim lying dead on the floor of the apartment.
While an autopsy has yet to determine the cause of death, all signs indicate murder due to the signs of violence, police say. The victim is a young woman in her 30s.
Buhbut said that police do not have any record of complaints by the residents of the apartment or any history of violence or domestic abuse.
The apartment is owned by the parents of the victim and police said that some of her family is currently out of the country and have yet to be notified of her death.
A second case of violence was reported on Monday in Tel Aviv. A local man allegedly killed his partner on a sidewalk in the city by crushing her skull with a rock before he was held by passersby.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the suspect confessed and reenacted the crime later the same day, Tel Aviv police said.
The couple – both citizens of Eritrea – did not have any history of domestic violence, police said.
