A 16-year-old was stabbed to death in Ashdod outside his home during the early hours of Saturday morning, following an alcohol-fueled brawl between youths.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.
Avi Makorao was found by paramedics lying in a pool of his own blood in the street. He was rushed to the Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, but he was declared dead shortly after arrival.
An investigation launched by the Central Unit of the Lachish police subdistrict resulted in the arrest of a suspect shortly after the attack.
Police say the suspect has confessed to stabbing Makorao, and that he reenacted the violent incident before officers. The suspect told detectives he got into a fight with the victim after consuming alcohol with him in the street.
The suspect is due to appear at an Ashdod court for a remand hearing on Sunday.
Makorao's mother said she heard shouts before seeing her son lying on the ground from her window.
In Rehovot, two men aged 25 and 30 were stabbed during a fight with a group of youths during the early hours of Saturday morning. The men sustained minor wounds in the incident. They later told police that a confrontation had turned violent following an insult.
Police have launched a manhunt for the attackers, who fled the scene in a vehicle.
A stabbing was also reported in Tel Aviv, where a 31-year-old man from Holon said he came under attack while walking down the street. The man was treated for a wound at Wolfson Hospital.
Over the weekend, Traffic Police conducted spot checks on drivers for alcohol consumption in Tel Aviv, targeting those returning from bars and clubs in the city. Police impounded the vehicles of 14 drivers found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
