A 26-year-old Segev Shalom resident drowned on Friday night at the Ashkelon beach.
Naval police pulled him and a companion out of the water. The two were taken to Barzilai Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.
The companion was listed in mild condition, Israel Radio reported.
