94% of dangerous chemicals removed from Haifa port

OC Home Front Command Maj.-Gen. Yitzhak Gershon informed the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Wednesday that the IDF has thus far removed 94 percent of the dangerous chemicals stored in the area of the Haifa port, and that the removal process was ongoing. The presence of the chemicals at the port was deemed a major security risk after Hizbullah began firing rockets on the city. Gershon added that the state of martial law declared on the north on Sunday by Defense Minister Amir Peretz would be extended by five days.
