Abbas: Israel using rocket attacks as excuse to keep Gaza crossings shut

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas blamed Israel Tuesday for using the Kassam rocket attacks as an excuse to keep the Gaza crossings shut, but he urged the Gaza terrorists to halt the rocket fire immediately. "Stopping the rocket fire at Israel will prevent Israel from using the attacks as an excuse for continuing to impose the blockade on the Gaza Strip," said Abbas after meeting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo. The PA president also said that Egyptian Intelligence chief Omar Suleiman was planning to visit Israel next week for discussions on the Gaza crossings.
