Army magazine: Rubble of old IAF HQ to be used for rescue practice
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
An IDF magazine reported that the old air force command headquarters in Tel Aviv won't just be torn down. They'll be used for rescue practice.
The soldiers' weekly Bamahaneh said in its current issue that the old buildings in the huge military complex in the middle of Tel Aviv will be knocked down this summer. The military's rescue unit has been assigned the job. After they're done tearing the structures down, the unit will use the rubble to train its soldiers in techniques of rescuing trapped people.
The air force command is moving to a new high-rise building nearby.
Israel's military rescue unit has been sent abroad several times to help victims of natural disasters, including earthquakes in Armenia and Turkey.
