Arutz 7 head to chair NU; Habayit Hayehudi reshuffles list
By MATTHEW WAGNER
Ya'akov "Katzele" Katz, executive director of Arutz 7 news, will chair the reestablished National Union Party, a spokesman said Sunday evening.
Katz, who is also director of the Beit El Institutions, lost a leg in the Yom Kippur War while serving in the elite Shaked Reconnaissance unit.
Number two on the list will be Uri Ariel, followed by Arye Eldad.
The NU was also negotiating with Baruch Marzel's Eretz Yisrael Shelanu party. The NU hoped to convince Marzel not to run and in exchange to appoint a candidate approved by Marzel for the No. 4 or 5 slot.
Uri Bank was expected to be listed in the top five, as well.
Meanwhile, in Habayit Yehudi the list was being reshuffled after Gen. (res.) Ya'acov Amidror resigned from his position as chair of the party's Public Council and dispersed the council.
A spokesman for National Religious Party Chairman Zevulun Orlev said Sunday night that only the top two slots had been decided.
Daniel Hershkovitz would chair the new party while Orlev would be No. two on the list.
