Ayalon declines to participate in Marciano session

MK Ami Ayalon (Labor) declined on Saturday evening to participate in the Knesset Ethics Committee discussion on disciplinary action for fellow Labor MK Yoram Marciano, who was involved in a scuffle with security guards in a Herzliya club less than two weeks ago. Ayalon said he had made the decision due to a conflict of interests, as he is running for the chairmanship of the Labor Party, and Marciano heads his election staff. Marciano apologized to the Knesset last week for his actions, which allegedly included sexual harassment and attacking the security guards while drunk, and requested that the Ethics Committee decide on an appropriate punishment if it saw fit to do so.
