Barak: Israel must learn lessons from the failures of the war

Israel must learn the necessary lessons from the failures of the Second Lebanon War, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Monday. Speaking at a ceremony in Mt. Herzl marking two years to the war, Barak said: "In the recent war there were painful lessons [learnt from] tough battles and operational failures. We must gaze at the failures without fear, acknowledge them, study them and reach conclusions." Barak commended the bravery of IDF soldiers during the war. "These warriors, with their courage and commitment to the mission…determined the outcome of battles time after time."
