The Health and Agriculture Ministries were investigating reports from England, Scotland, Denmark, and the Netherlands that salmonella bacteria was discovered in Israeli-grown basil.
Authorities in all four countries reported that several people were suffering from infections that appeared to have been caused by the imported herbs.
Israel's basil exporters were checking samples from Israel's three growers. Results are expected Tuesday.
