Beinisch slams state for lack of school protection

As a barrage of Kassams hit Sderot Wednesday morning with deadly results, the High Court gave the state two weeks to explain why schools in Sderot and along the Gaza border would not receive additional protection in the near future. During a discussion of petitions submitted by educational institutions on the subject, Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch leveled sharp criticism at the state. "Dozens of kindergartens are still unprotected," Beinisch said. "It is unthinkable that because of Kassams, the schools must be closed. Factually, lives are in danger." According to Israel Radio, the Supreme Court president did not accept the Home Front Command's claim that classrooms could be evacuated within 15 seconds and the children brought to shelters.
