Labor faction chairman Eitan Cabel offered a compromise on Thursday to the five Labor rebels who have demanded his dismissal and have called for Labor Party primaries to take place next year.
Eitan suggested that an internal committee should propose a timetable for the elections.
The five rebel MKs Ami Ayalon, Avishay Braverman, Colette Avital, Danny Yatom and Matan Vilna'i, had not yet responded to the proposal.
Labor Party Chairman Amir Peretz and Cabel decided to convene the Labor Party faction and rejected requests for the cancellation of the meeting.
