By JERUSALEM POST STAFFThe Knesset's state comptroller's committee decided on Tuesday that it could not rule on hooking up electricity to an Israeli-Arab home in the Galilee without first traveling to the home to inspect it firsthand.
The matter is a legal one, and it revolves around the illegal addition of a room the family's home.
The Sawaed family went to Jerusalem from the village of Husseiniyeh in the Western Galilee with its last living son to attend the hearing.
"We need electricity so my son can continue to live," said Ibrahim Sawaed, 42, the family patriarch. The family has lost three sons, two in the last couple months, to cerebral palsy. Sawaed said the deaths were due to the inability to provide proper care for his children because of the lack of electricity.
