The railroad crossing in Binyamina will close to cross-traffic, due to the recent collisions that occurred at the site.
Army Radio reported that Ofer Linchevksi, the chairman of Israel Railways, and the Transportation Ministry's Director-General Aryeh Bar determined that drivers wishing to cross the tracks would have to take a half-kilometer detour.
Linchevski said that the step was necessary for the improvement of road safety.
Two accidents occurred at the intersection in the past six months; a 16-year-old teenager was killed in one of them.
