Defense Ministry: We're not importing anti-Kassam cannon
By YAAKOV KATZ
The Defense Ministry denied Wednesday a report that appeared in Ha'aretz, which stated that Israel had decided to bring a Vulcan Phalanx rapid-fire cannon to Israel to test its feasibility against Kassam rockets.
Defense Ministry spokesman Shlomo Dror rejected the report, which claimed that MOD Director-General Pinchas Buhris had decided to purchase one of the systems for testing. He said that the ministry was in touch with the system's manufacturers and received regular updates regarding its operational capabilities. Currently, he said, the system was not adaptable to defend a city like Sderot.
