An investigation committee set up by the Health Ministry to look into the complaint against a doctor who allegedly failed to refer a two-year-old girl for an electroencephalogram has vindicated the physician.
The mother claimed that delay in treating her daughter, who is now six, resulted in brain damage.
Born with the congenital neural tube defect called hydrocephalus, the girl today suffers from irreversible developmental delays, motor disability, epilepsy and reduced cognitive functioning.
The ministry committee headed by a senior Shaare Zedek Medical Center neurologist found that the doctor acted "in a reasonable way and according to the clinical standard for such a complicated case."
