El Al planes soon to be protected against RPGs

Now that the development of a defense system to protect Israeli aircraft from shoulder-launched rocket (RPG) attacks has been completed, El Al passenger planes are expected to be equipped with the system soon. Israel has been studying ways to better protect its jets after a failed attempt three years ago to shoot down an Israeli-owned plane in Kenya, Israel Radio reported. The attempt coincided with a deadly triple suicide bombing in Mombassa at an Israeli-owned beach hotel there that killed 12 people, in addition to the bombers.
