Elta lands $132 million deal with Swiss MOD

The Swiss Ministry of Defense has chosen IAI's subsidiary Elta to upgrade their military communications system. The deal is worth $132 million and is part of the Swiss IFASS program for the country's integrated radio transmission and intelligence system. The deal requires Elta to upgrade SIGINT equipment it supplied to the Swiss in the 1990s that will be used by the air force, ground forces and base garrison service as well as with civilian authorities. The upgrade includes better command and control capabilities as well as the ability to detect, analyze and jam electromagnetic transmissions generated by radio systems. "Signing the deal represents the great confidence the Swiss Defense Ministry puts in the quality and dependability of Elta systems for more than a decade," said Israel Livnat, director general of Elta.
