Emunah association appeals Haim Ramon appointment

Emunah National Religious Women's Association appealed to the Supreme Court to prevent the appointment of Haim Ramon as a minister with diplomatic responsibility, Israel Radio reported Tuesday. Former justice minister Ramon was convicted of a sex offense earlier this year and dismissed of his portfolio. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced some days ago that Ramon would be appointed a minister in charge of monitoring the conduct of the prime minister (a portfolio heretofore nonexistent), as well as serve as a deputy to the prime minister. Emunah claims in its appeal that "whoever was convicted of a sex offense cannot be a minister, let alone a vice premier."
