EU warns Israel over east Jerusalem building plans

The European Union has urged Israel to stop the demolition of 90 homes in east Jerusalem.
The bloc says the plan would make more than 1,000 Palestinians homeless and set back efforts to reach a lasting peace settlement.
Israeli authorities have issued demolition orders to build a park. The EU said in a statement Wednesday that it was "deeply concerned" about the matter and reminded Israel of its obligations under international law.
It said demolitions "in this sensitive area threatens the viability" of getting a lasting peace deal.
