Gov't to cut NIS 800 M from ministerial funds

The government is expected to authorize Sunday an NIS 800 million cut to ministerial budgets in order to finance a monetary addition to the defense establishment. The education ministry will receive the biggest blow from the move, Army Radio reported. Education Minister Yuli Tamir responded by saying that two major issues originally planned for revision would be directly affected by the move. Plans to invest in the development of children's education from the ages of 0 to 4 years, and the allocation of NIS 100 million to universities and colleges in order to begin the school year as per norm, would both be taken out as a result of the cut.
