Group calls to dismiss Home Front Command head

The Movement for Quality Government on Sunday called for the dismissal of OC Home Front Command, Maj.-Gen. Yitzhak Gershon. Gershon's performance during the Second Lebanon War was sharply criticized in a report released last week by State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss. Among other things, Lindenstrauss scored Gershon for failing to map the location of bomb shelters and how many more shelters were required to protect the civilian population. The watchdog organization charged that Gershon did not understand his job or the chain of command which he was subordinate to.
