Halutz: IDF must base itself on Rabin's legacy

A special forum of the army's General Staff met Monday at Tel Aviv's Rabin Square to mark 11 years since the assassination of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin. Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz said at the meeting that "we have to investigate the events of the war in Lebanon, and to base ourselves on the legacy that Rabin left us." According to Israel Radio, Halutz said the army was undergoing difficult times, and that the recent war exposed significant weaknesses and failures. He added that the IDF would investigate these matters fearlessly, honestly, and thoroughly.
