Hamas: Change in Israeli stance can 'breath life' into Schalit talks

Only a change in Israel's stance can "breath some life" into negotiations to secure the release of captured IDF solder Gilad Schalit, Osama Hamdan, Hamas's representative in Lebanon, said Thursday. Hamdan told Al- Jazeera that Hamas was waiting to hear from Egyptian officials on conversations they held this week with Ofer Dekel, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's representative in the prisoner exchange negotiations. Hamdan went on to say that "Israel understands" that time is running out. He did not elaborate. Another Hamas official told Al- Jazeera that restoring calm in the Gaza Strip and the Schalit issue were totally unconnected.
