Hanegbi: Egypt won't be allowed to place more soldiers near border

Israel will not allow Egypt to increase the number of soldiers stationed between the countries, Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Tzahi Hanegbi said Tuesday. Hanegbi's comments came as a response to Egypt's claim that the limited number of Egyptian soldiers stationed near the border is preventing them from effectively fighting against smuggling tunnels along the Philadelphi corridor. According to Army Radio, Hanegbi claimed that Egypt is using the number of soldiers as an excuse.
