Amid threats form the teacher's union to strike, some 5,000 10th graders throughout the country were to take the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) exam Sunday morning.
Teachers threatened to strike because they had been denied compensation for the overtime hours required to work in order to prepare their students for the test.
The international exam is designed to rank the educational systems in the 60 different countries in which it is administered.
Israeli students finished in the bottom third of all countries following the last PISA test.
