An IDF probe into the death of 14-year-old Duaa Abdulqader by Israeli fire in Tulkarm last week led on Sunday to disciplinary action against several IDF officers.
Following the investigation, headed by OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh, into the shooting, the Nahshon Battalion squadron commander was dismissed from his position, while the company commander received a reprimand. The soldier who fired the shot was suspended.
A military police investigation into the incident was still underway.
The shooting occurred last week when troops on a routine patrol identified a suspicious figure and engaged in arrest procedures.
When the figure did not respond, the company commander fired in the air; however, the soldier, who thought they were dealing with a terrorist, shot and wounded the girl.
Abdulqader later died of her wounds.
