The Ministry of Infrastructure estimates that on Monday evening a new all-time record of electricity usage will be set in Israel, Army Radio reported.
The previous record was set last August.
In order to deal with the expected hike in usage, the electricity company will put into effect an arrangement according to which major electricity users will lower usage during those hours in return for financial benefits.
The peak in usage is expected because of the intense cold gripping Israel for the past several days.
The Israeli Electric Company said planned outages of approximately an hour might occur in various parts of the country.
