Israel Athletic Association to remember Vexler

Yvegenia Vexler, the promising 23-year-old athlete who was killed April 11 in a car accident involving well-known attorney Avigdor 'Dori' Klagsbald, will be remembered Monday, her birthday, in a special ceremony to take place at the Hadar Yosef Athletic Club where she trained. According to Levy Sapkin, director of Macabi Tel Aviv Athletic Club and Vice President of the Israel Athletic Association, the event will be a tribute to her aimed at bringing together all those that knew her. Vexler, who would have turned 24, and her six-year-old son, Arthur, were stopped at a red light at the intersection of Einstein Street and Namir Road in North Tel Aviv. An SUV, driven by Klagsbald, slammed into their car killing the two almost instantly. Klagsbald was supposed to have appeared in court Tuesday, but the hearing has now been postponed to September 29.
