The first of three freebie cultural weekends kicks off Thursday evening in Jerusalem, the city said Wednesday.
The city's top museums and other tourists spots will open their doors free of charge during specially extended hours Thursday night, with a series of special cultural activities planned throughout the capital over the weekend.
The third-annual event, which is dubbed 'hamshushalayim,' is meant to increase Israeli tourism to the capital.
More than 400,000 Israelis took part in the three
promotional weekends in Jerusalem last year.
