Representative of the junior faculties at Israel's universities agreed Tuesday to momentarily call off their planned strike for the benefit of the ongoing negotiations.
MK Zehava Gal-On convened the Knesset Education, Culture and Sports Committee for a meeting on the junior and external lecturers' crisis.
The junior lecturers recently announced a dispute over their salary and working conditions and the external lecturers are protesting their terms of employment by which they are employed every year for a period of eight months and then reemployed at the start of the following academic year.
Since February, the lecturers have been negotiating with the university presidents on improving their conditions.
